11. Handball-EC 2016 in Berlin CRO-ITA
16. Mai 2016
Title-holder Croatia starts dominantly In the first match of group B the Croatians took the Italiens by surprise. Two tight matches in group A followed by a true walkover. Croatia dominated on all sides and consequently won 32:12 (17:4). Croatia is the team that has to be overcome when it comes to the title win. The team from the Balkans won the last European Deaf Handball Championship and wants to raise the cup to the heavens this Saturday again. How good they are in 2016 the Italians found out first. Croatia was incredibly confident and incredibly dangerous. After a few minutes they already led 9:1. Italy didn’t stand a chance. Video-Highlights The second half wasn’t much different. Although the Italians could show their talent every once in a while but Croatia was just too strong. The title-holder didn’t show any signs of fatigue and won the match 32:12 deservedly. Goals Croatia: Rozic 7, Perak 4, Fodor 5, Zivkovic 5, Bosnjak 1, Jusic 3, Crnojevic 3, Damjanic 1, Skoko 2, Turkovic 1 Goals Italy: Bianca 1, Carforio 1, Carta 1, Di Bella 1, Di Martino 3, Gaglaridi 1, Melfi 3, Di Fazio 1 Sincerely yours

11. Handball-EC 2016 in Berlin DEN-TUR
16. Mai 2016
Denmark and Turkey – another tie The Scandinavian team trails for a long time in the first half. After a good start in the second they could do have done better than 23:23 (9:12) though. Turkey show strong dependence on top-scorer Mustafa Ozbay. Video-Highlights For eight years Denmark hasn’t participated in a deaf handball-EC. That the Scandinavians do not have abundant match-experience was visible quickly in their first game against Turkey. Coach Louise Karup’s team played well in the beginning but the closer towards half-time the more mistakes they made. Their opponents used any bad pass or failed chance for their advantage to establish a lead of 12:9 till half-time. In the break the Danish team re-adjusted their strategies successfully. In minute 37 they took the lead at 14:13. Mads Jensen added up to 18:14. But that didn’t mean defeat for the Turks. In spite of double short-handedness they reduced the lead to only one goal. Mustafa Ozbay used his height once again to his advantage. The Turkish No. 18 scored 9 goals altogether. Among them the 21:20 goal that marked the change of lead. After a turbulent ending-phase with lots of two-minute-penalties the teams finished 23:23. Since Germany-Russia played a tie as well everything is still possible in group A after the first day. Goals Denmark:
Olsen 2, Löwig 8, Jensen 9, Kleczewski 2, Klold 2 Goals Turkey:
Kilzilkay 3, Denil 2, Sahin 1, Gundogdu 1, Atak 5, Tuna 2, Ozbay 9 Yours sincerely

11. Handball-EC 2016 in Berlin GER-RUS
16. Mai 2016
Thriller in the opening match results in tie In a thrilling first match of the deaf handball EC Germany and Russia played 27:27 (11:11). The host team owned their point in big parts to goalkeeper Hendrik Mitschke who held two penalty shots and lots of free throws. For the Russian team back player Murat Chomaev was the strongest player. His last goal could was equalized by the German team only seconds before the end of the match. Video-Highlights The first part of the match was clearly among the goalies. Hendrik Mitschke on the German team and Stanislav Surovskii for the Russians were hard to overcome within the first five minutes. When Felix Werling made the first point the DGS team managed to get ahead to 6:3 and forced the Russian coach to take his first time-out. Afterwards Ivan Belyaev’s team clearly upgraded their defence and found its way back into the match. Germany could hardly find any gaps and suffered from bad passes. If Mitschke hadn’t continued to show his best side Russia would have taken the lead within the first 30 minutes. Only 20 seconds before half-time Murat Chomaev scored the 11:10 for the Russian Federation from the far left. But thanks to Sebastian Klein this wasn’t the half-time result. Klein managed to hit home a direct free throw. The match continued to be thrilling in the second half. At no point any one of the teams led with more than one goal. If the Germans scored there was an immediate counter. Whenever the Russian defence blocked Mitschke prevented his team from falling back further. Both teams showed high risk propensity. The Russians playing short took out their goalkeeper and Germany dared throwing across half the court to score. The end of the match mirrored the end of the first half: the outstanding player Chomaev scored the 27:26 lead with his twelfth goal only 20 seconds before the end. But instead of hanging their heads in the face of a possible defeat the DGS-team gave it their all and was rewarded with a tie, scored by Felix Werling only three seconds before the end. Goals for Germany:
Lauckner 2, Kinnback 5, Petersen 5, Schaknies 2, WErling 6, Everding 1, Klein 6 Goals for Russia:
Dremkov 5, Storozhev 4, Chomaev 12, Maluev 4, Kitaev 1, Strizhevskii 1 Yours sincerely
